The Glass Tea House Mondrian, the architectural work by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto exhibited at LE STANZE DEL VETRO from 6 June 2014 to 30 November 2016, will be shown at Versailles until February 2019.
The annual exhibition that the Palace of Versailles dedicates to contemporary art will open in October, this year featuring Hiroshi Sugimoto, with a personal show entitled ‘Sugimoto Versailles. Surface de Révolution’ (16 October 2018 – 17 February 2019).
The works on display – photographs, sculptures, installations and videos, some made especially for this project – include the ‘Glass Tea House Mondrian’, originally commissioned by Pentagram Stiftung for LE STANZE DEL VETRO and exhibited in the outdoor gardens on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice.
The Trianon complex in the historic venue will be hosting the works of a photographer for the first time and thus paying tribute to Sugimoto’s career and at the same time confirming the importance of the links between France and Japan.
