Corpus of the Archaeological Glass Collections in the Veneto, vol. 8

The volume presents ancient glass from the Veneto region, divided into a section devoted to pre-Roman glass — from the 5th century BC to the Hellenistic period — and an extensive section dedicated to Roman glass, organised according to both chronological and typological criteria. The documented forms include cups (in their various technical and decorative variants), kantharoi and skyphoi, plates, trays, beakers, single-handled jugs, rhyta, amphorae, bottles (including the so-called “Mercurial bottles”), pitchers, pots and lids, pyxides, aryballoi, balsamaria, glass rods, lamps, and gaming counters. The analysis frames the materials from a typological, technical, and chronological perspective, placing them within the broader context of glass production and distribution in northern Italy from the pre-Roman period to the 4th century AD.
