Corrado “Dino” Martens (1894–1970) was a Venetian painter and draftsman who, beginning in the 1920s—when he started collaborating with SALIR (Studio Ars et Labor Industrie Riunite) and with Salviati & Co. as a designer—demonstrated a natural technical and scientific mastery as well as an exceptional sensitivity toward glass. This volume retraces the artist’s career on the occasion of the acquisition of his archive by the Glass Study Center of the Institute of Art History at the Giorgio Cini Foundation. The Dino Martens archive preserves 345 design drawings created for the Aureliano Toso glassworks in Murano, arranged in chronological order. Among the many projects held in the archive are those for glass pieces exhibited at major events such as the Venice International Art Biennale, the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, and the Milan Triennale.
