Archaeological Glass Collections in Veneto

50,00

The Corpus of Archaeological Glass Collections in Veneto is devoted to the systematic study of glass artefacts preserved in museums and private collections throughout the region, originating from excavations at sites in Veneto or from historic collections. The authors—university professors, museum and collection directors, and specialists in the field—address in each volume the antiquarian history of the collections, the archaeological evidence from excavations, and production techniques as documented in relation to provenance and the distribution of forms, as well as the specific features of these forms and their variants, based on international scholarship, and the techniques employed.

The volume provides a comprehensive systematic entry for each object, grouped by form. Each entry includes, in addition to a black-and-white photograph, information on provenance, state of preservation, measurements, colour, technique, specific bibliography, comparisons, production and distribution area, dating, along with a precise formal description. Numerous colour photographs are included for the most representative and valuable pieces. The apparatus section presents the general bibliography, along with tables of inventory and typological correspondences.

Each volume also includes a Glossary of Ancient Glass, in Italian and English, edited by A. Larese, G. Meconcelli Notarianni, M. Verità, and D. Whitehouse.
