The book aims to illustrate a particular medieval  branch of artistic production, linked to the construction of liturgical furnishings in Umbria between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
A peculiar variation of glassworking emerges,  featuring engraving and painting on glass, which is used in the construction of reliquaries.
These creations explore the tandem properties of light - both physical and metaphorical - as visual and sensory input and as a means of access to the transcendent.
