Born in Murano in 1934, Lino Tagliapietra is one of the most famous glass artists in the world. At the age of eleven he was already an apprentice in the studio of the renowned glass master Archimede Seguso and became a teacher himself at twenty-one. In his long career he has experimented with the most refined techniques and has exhibited his work in some of the most prestigious museums around the world, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Recognized as one of the greatest interpreters of contemporary glass, Tagliapietra investigates the different possibilities of the material through the widespread use of glassy rods which he himself composes using unique colors, creating highly original and evocative works. Over the past three decades, Tagliapietra has generously shared his experience, knowledge and understanding of traditional glass techniques with artists and scholars from around the world.  Thanks to him, a new Renaissance has begun in the art of glass: it would not be an over-statement to say that Tagliapietra has influenced the future of glass in the world
