October at the Glass Tea House Mondrian

two free special events for families

On the 9th and 23rd of October the Glass Tea House Mondrian by Hiroshi Sugimoto on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore will host two workshops in collaboration with the Venice Museum of Oriental Art, before its planned closure on the 29th of November 2016

The workshop – Trotting to the Tea House from the Museum of Oriental Art! – on October 9th (at 5.00pm) and 23rd (at 4.00pm), comprises a free tour, designed for families, from the Venice museum of Oriental Art (at Ca’ Pesaro) to the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, where there will be a workshop on Japanese lanterns at the Glass Tea House Mondrian.

The workshop is curated by Artsystem in collaboration with the Museum of Oriental Art, as part of the initiatives dedicated to Japanese culture for the 150th anniversary of Italy-Japan bilateral relations. The workshop on October 9th will also coincide with National Family Museum Day, part of the F@Mu 2016 programme. The route, for children and parents, has a water theme, with a few stops and brief descriptions, and aims to let them see Venice as a garden, perfectly connecting the Japanese house (the MOA) to its tea house (the Glass Tea House Mondrian). Participation in both events is free of charge upon booking (toll number: 800 662477, Mon-Fri 10.00am – 5.00pm, email: artsystem@artsystem.it) and is first-come, first-served.

Glass Tea House Mondrian, the temporary pavilion conceived by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto in June 2014, will be open to visits until 29th November 2016 (every day except Wednesday, 10.00am – 4.30pm).
